Varners Chess Club: Battle of the Brains

Think you’ve got what it takes? Every Monday night, Varners Restaurant and Tavern hosts a Swiss-style chess tournament starting at 7PM. Four rounds of timed play, no entry fee with a purchase, and house cash on the line for the winners.

The scoring is simple, a win earns you 1 point, a draw gets you half, and a loss gets you nothing. Rack up enough points over time and you’ll qualify for the quarterly tournaments where the top point leaders go head to head.

All skill levels welcome. Whether you’re a seasoned player or just learning to think a few moves ahead, come pull up a chair, grab a drink, and see where you land on the leaderboard.
